Quantities are very limited, and once they’re gone, they’re gone — so if one speaks to you, don’t wait too long.

Oversized Leather Bumbag with Studwork

We thought it was time to bring a classic bumbag back to the table for summer, but of course we couldn't help going a bit extra!

Far bigger than your average bumbag, the Kaida belt has some serious clout!

With a bold, oversized design and a grand total of five spacious pockets theres space here for everything including your favourite paperback book (a much requested feature) This piece works beautifully as a crossbody sling bag as well as a hip bag.

Two of the three front pockets are lined with studded detailing, featuring a multicoloured range of silver, gold and copper studs, and the zipper pullers are each adorned with long, lustrous leather tassels giving this bag a little flavour of swish and sway - something we love here at Forage!

 Pockets

  • 1 x Main compartments: 30cm x 15cm x 7cm
  • 1 x Front zip pocket: 26cm x 12cm*

Waist Size

  • Standard  - The belt is fully adjustable from 75cm - 130cm
  • For smaller waist sizes, use the small brass rings to connect the clasp
  • Belt extenders will add an extra 50cm please note we produce these belts in very small batches and often the leather used for the extenders will not exactly match the shade or texture of the belt.

Features

Whether you are a busy mum, travelling, heading to a festival or simply a fashionista this bag will style up any outfit!

  • Heavy duty Clip & Ring fastening
  • Made with high quality leather. Colour and texture of the leather may vary slightly from the photograph.
  • These belts get more beautiful with time as the leather softens to your shape.

Our leather is sourced directly from our tailor in India, these are purchased in very small quantities often from what has been left over from larger manufacturers. Each batch of leather varies in colour and texture, and sometimes come with minor scuffs, blemishes and imperfection. We feel that this adds to the unique appeal of our products, and reduces slightly their environmental impact.

Ultimately all our leather wears in the same beautiful way.

If you would like to discuss with us exactly the type of leather we have in stock right now, please contact us.

Each year after festival season, we gather up the pieces that didn’t quite make it back into full stock — the ones with a scuff here, a tired zip there, or a story to tell.

Instead of letting them go to waste, we hand-check and categorise every one, giving them a second chance to be loved again — at a fair, reduced price.

Below you’ll find a quick guide to the kinds of imperfections you might come across:

👜 Ex-Display — Visible marks, small blemishes, or light wear from handling and display.

☔ Weather-Worn — Water marks on leather or tarnished hardware from rain or dust exposure.

⚙️ Zipper Issues — Stiff or catching zippers, sometimes with a kink in the teeth.

✂️ Rough Edging — Slightly uneven or rough-cut edges from hand-cutting.

🧵 Stitching Issues — Irregular stitching or a loose thread, often near a pocket flap.

🎒 Lining Imperfections — Small inner flaws like loose stitches or tiny pocket holes.

🔩 Rivet & Popper Faults — Minor hardware quirks such as stiff, loose, or missing fastenings.

🪡 Needs Attention — Larger faults (like broken zips or stitched pockets) that need repair before use.

Our belt bags are designed for bold living - whether you’re hiking trails, dancing at festivals, or just navigating everyday adventures. And with the right care, they’ll be with you for years (and stories) to come.

Each one is made with durable materials and hard-wearing construction, but like all well-loved items, they’ll last longer with a little attention now and then. This guide will help you keep your bag looking great, functioning well, and ageing beautifully.

A few golden rules before we begin:

  • Don’t overstuff the pockets - as tempting as it is. It puts unnecessary strain on the stitching and can warp the shape over time.

  • Keep hardware dry. All our bags feature metal rivets and hardware. While they’re tough, moisture and chemicals can cause tarnishing or rust over time, so avoid getting them wet or exposing them to lotions, perfumes, or cleaning sprays.

1. Leather

Leather is one of our favourite materials to work with - not just for its strength and flexibility, but because it ages with character, developing a rich patina and soft feel that gets better with every wear.

  • Clean gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth. If needed, use a small amount of leather-specific cleaner - but always patch test first.

  • Avoid soaking or scrubbing leather. Let it dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight.

  • If it starts to feel dry, apply a leather balm or conditioner sparingly.

  • Scratches and scuffs? Often they can be gently buffed out with your fingers or a soft cloth, thanks to the natural oils in the leather.

  • Most importantly: leather can always be repaired - it’s one of its best qualities. Don’t be afraid to give it some TLC or hand it over to a local specialist for a refresh.

2. Vegan Leather

Our vegan leather bags are made from a durable coated fabric with a smooth, leather-like finish. While they’re designed to be tough, they do need a gentler approach than real leather.

  • Wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth - warm water is best.

  • Avoid harsh cleaning sprays, alcohol, or chemical solvents, which can crack or dry out the surface. Keep it dry and out of direct sunlight.

  • Don’t use heat or hairdryers to dry vegan leather if it gets wet - just let it air dry.

  • Store it somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight to avoid fading or warping.

Treat it well, and your vegan leather bag will keep its shape and finish beautifully over time.

A note on new-bag smell:
Some vegan leather bags may have a bit of a scent when they’re freshly made - that’s just the materials settling and isn’t harmful. The smell will naturally fade with time and wear. If it bothers you, just leave your bag out to air in a well-ventilated space (out of direct sunlight), and it should mellow out quickly.

3. Canvas

Canvas is a brilliant choice for everyday wear - it’s strong, structured, and naturally breathable. But like any fabric, it benefits from a bit of mindful cleaning.

  • Gently wipe down with a soft, damp cloth to remove surface marks.

  • For deeper cleaning, use lukewarm water and a tiny amount of mild soap. Blot - don’t rub - and avoid soaking.

  • Let it air dry completely before wearing or storing.

  • If your canvas gets dusty or sandy, a soft brush can help clean it up before wiping.

Avoid strong detergents, scrubbing, or machine washing to keep the fibres intact and the structure strong.

Repairs

We don’t offer repairs ourselves - but the good news is, you don’t need to send your bag away for weeks or pay premium prices. Many small local tailors and alteration shops are skilled in exactly this kind of repair work, and can bring a tired or damaged bag back to life with care and precision. It’s often more affordable than you’d expect, and it’s a great way to support local craftsmanship.

Belt Clips

When we first started making belt bags, we used a traditional buckle and eyelet fastening. But over time, we found that the belt strap material would stretch, the holes would widen, and the metal eyelets would sometimes pop out - making repairs fiddly and often requiring a specialist.

So we designed something better.

Our clip and ring fastening means there are no eyelets to tear, no buckles to break, and nothing that requires tailoring tools or leatherworking to fix. It's strong, secure, and - best of all - easy to replace if needed.

If your clip ever fails, we offer replacement clips at cost price on our website. Just slide the old clip off, thread on the new one, and your bag is good to go - complete with that beautiful worn-in look that only comes with time.

Waterproofing

We don’t use any waterproofing treatments on our bags - many of our customers prefer the natural finish and patina that comes with wear. That said, some customers have chosen to waterproof their bags themselves, particularly for leather and canvas styles.

While we can’t recommend specific brands or guarantee how treatments will affect the materials, it’s something you may wish to explore. If you go that route, we suggest patch testing on a hidden area first, and always choosing products designed for the specific material your bag is made from.

If you have any other questions or need help choosing the right care method for your bag, feel free to reach out. We’re always happy to help.

Here’s to many more adventures together.

Meet the Rescued Treasures

Every year, after festival season, we gather up the pieces that didn’t quite make it back into full stock — the ones with a mark here, a stiff zip there, or just a story to tell. Instead of letting them go to waste, we give them a second life through our Rescued Treasures collection.

Each item has been hand-checked, categorised by imperfection, and priced fairly to reflect its unique condition. Some have weathered a storm or two, some have a stitch out of place, and others just show a little more character than most — but every single one still carries the same craftsmanship and spirit that makes a Forage bag special.

Because imperfect things deserve to be loved, too. ♻️

Making sure nothing beautiful goes to waste.
Why We Do It

We don’t believe in waste — especially when it comes to something made with care. Leather that’s been worked by hand, hardware set by a craftsman, linings cut and stitched by our small team… it all deserves another chance.

Our Rescued Treasures event is our way of honouring that process — passing on perfectly functional (if slightly flawed) pieces to those who see beauty in imperfection. It’s become something of a tradition around here — our way of giving back to our community each year.

Each imperfection is a chapter in a bag’s story

Every piece is hand-checked and given a fair chance to shine again.
Hand-checked, fairly priced, and one of a kind.
How It Works

Every rescued piece has been:

  • Hand-checked to ensure it’s clean, functional, and ready to use.
  • Categorised by imperfection type so you know exactly what to expect.
  • Priced fairly, depending on the nature of the flaw.

These pieces are extremely limited — often just one or two per design — and once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.

You can read more about each imperfection type in the "Understanding the Imperfections " section below.

Marks, quirks, and plenty of character.
What to Expect

A scuff. A water mark. A loose stitch. Maybe a zipper that needs a gentle hand. Each one is a reminder that every product in our collection is made by real people — not machines — and that a little imperfection can add a lot of charm.

Use the images and notes on each product page to get a sense of the specific condition. We photograph and describe each one honestly, so there are no surprises — only good stories.

(Visual suggestion: include a small grid of close-up images showing natural marks, scuffed edges, or tarnished brass with soft lighting and neutral backgrounds.)

Understanding the Imperfections

What to expect from each rescued piece.

Previously displayed pieces with visible scuffs, marks, or blemishes. Some may look a little tired from travel or handling, but all are fully functional and ready for many more adventures.

Bags that braved the elements — rain, dust, or festival fields. Expect water marks on the leather or tarnished metalwork. They carry the marks of the season, but their spirit (and structure) remains strong.

Zippers that don’t glide perfectly — some may catch, run unevenly, or have a slight kink in the teeth. The rest of the bag is in great condition; it just needs a little extra patience (or a quick repair) when zipping up.

Hand-cut edges that turned out a little rough or uneven. Purely cosmetic — these small quirks don’t affect durability, but they do make each piece look and feel one-of-a-kind.

Visible stitch irregularities or loose threads, often around a pocket flap or seam. Most are purely visual, though some may benefit from a simple restitch to tidy up the edge.

Small inner details that missed the mark — small holes in a pocket or loose stitches inside the lining. Hidden in use, but reflected in the price.

Hardware that’s not quite perfect — a stiff popper, a loose rivet, or one that’s missing entirely. Easy to repair or live with, and doesn’t affect how the bag carries.

Pieces that need a little extra love — like a fully broken zipper or a stitched-up pocket. For confident fixers and creative souls, these offer the biggest savings and the most rewarding repairs.

Once-a-year, one-of-a-kind finds.
Join the Tradition

Our Rescued Treasures event happens just once a year — a celebration of craftsmanship, care, and conscious shopping. It’s one of our favourite traditions, and we love seeing these pieces find new homes with people who appreciate them for what they are: perfectly imperfect.

Once they’re gone, they’re gone — so if a rescued piece catches your eye, don’t wait too long to make it yours.
