Behind the curtain of boho jewellery photography with Tanisha Claudaé

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Tanisha Claudaé, a young photographer who is based locally to me in Bristol. We met at a socially distant photoshoot for our Winter collection at Access Creative College in Bristol.

Already an accomplished photographer; Tanisha’s work has been featured and approved by Vogue Italia. Her work is raw and urban, seeming to effortlessly capture the beauty and diversity of the wonderfully multicultural city that we both call home.

Tanisha’s photography style is a beautiful fit for Forage, and she has now photographed some of our bohemian fashion for women as well as our boho jewellery.

I collaborated with Tanisha most recently when I commissioned her to photograph my upcoming silver jewelry collection, this time with a location shoot. I took this opportunity to learn a little more about Tanisha and how she got into photography.

Tanisha is a Portrait & Editorial Photographer. Now 17 years old, she started her photography journey at the age of 13: “For the most part, I was just playing around with my camera, but then I started taking images of my family and friends and discovered my love for portraiture,” she reflected.

Throughout the years, Tanisha has progressed and developed her skills by experimenting with other avenues of photography, and gaining experience while studying as a photography student.

“As a young black female photographer, I aim to have a diverse gaze within my body of work. I feel that it’s very important to be able to represent people from different backgrounds throughout my images and I enjoy being able to do so.”

Like for so many of us, the pandemic has disrupted Tanisha’s work and study opportunities for some time: “During the pandemic has somewhat been difficult as I haven’t been able to do as many photoshoots as I’ve wanted to, which is disappointing, but staying positive is key!” she said.

Some photoshoots are able to run with extra safety precautions but that doesn’t impact on creativity: ““Socially distanced photoshoots are a change but it helps to keep everyone safe and I’m able to get snapping and create content again! I was introduced to Forage at a socially distanced photoshoot and I loved working with them on a lifestyle photoshoot for their ethically produced printed kimonos.”

Bringing diverse gaze and Vogue Italia accolades to capture bohemian fashion for women

Beyond the pandemic, I asked Tanisha about her goals, longer-term: “It’s hard to think that far into the future,” she said, “but I would want to see myself, out of the pandemic, working full time as a photographer and continuing to shoot for great brands such as Forage.”

It’s easy to see that Tanisha cares about independent brands like ours, and recognises our mission to bring bohemian, ethical fashion and fair trade, sustainable clothing to our customers.

Tanisha’s vision for herself is also influenced by her values, which inspires and aligns with our values at Forage in equal measure:

“As a young black female photographer, I aim to have a diverse gaze within my body of work. I feel that it’s very important to be able to represent people from different backgrounds throughout my images and I enjoy being able to do so.”

Already getting noticed, Tanisha has as many accolades as she has years: “PhotoVogue is a platform in which photographers all over the globe can have an opportunity to have their work approved by Vogue Italia. I’m proud to say 17 of my photographs so far have been approved and I hope to get more approved by them in the future,” Tanisha said.

In our latest collaboration, Tanisha went out on location in Bristol with a friend and local model to capture the beauty of spring sunshine on silver jewellery with her lense.

About the hand made silver jewellery collection Tanisha captured

silver jewellery festival style

Our Cyrene Silver collection includes a range of silver earrings, in a smaller scale to our normal designs. Our jewellery collections have always featured pieces which are quite large; filled with oversized rings and earrings that make a bold fashion statement.

We understood your need for something more delicate, so we have created a new collection of finer earrings in 925 sterling silver. The Cyrene Silver collection brings that Forage energy to a smaller scale.

These delicate and dreamy designs are perfect for those who want a bit of that bohemian flair without the overall weight of large jewellery pieces.

Tanisha has beautifully captured the ethereal beauty of these pieces and combined them with her raw and urban twist to create these gorgeous images, and we are so pleased!
